The max pressure on side of the tire is just that- max pressure. Go with what it says on the sticker on the car. Different cars can have different requirements depending on how they were designed and their characteristics and tire manufacturers don't know what you're putting it on.

I still go with the old 32-35 standard on with my stuff because I can't keep track of what each different car needs but if it's not in that range it's pretty close. I only remember that the LT ones on the truck take more.
