I used to use a c-clamp myself, until doing my wife's Edge brakes over the winter. You have to turn the piston clockwise while pushing in, so you need a special compressor for that. Go on Amazon - there are many of these tool sets for around $22.00, & they will last a lifetime. I bought one & now wonder how I ever went without it! WAY easier than a c-clamp, & much more versatile.
