I did a build back around 2003.
It worked well and had no problems. I went to a 4.25" stroke setup a few years later.

measured length 7.758"
Scott Brown custom solid lifter cam, 272/280@0.050", 0.622"/0.600" lift.
Installed 4 degrees advanced.

Block decked to 9.962" (spec 9.980")
