I hate getting a tax refund. I'd rather owe a little bit. My goal every year is between state and Fed, that what I owe/what I get back is +/- $500. I am usually able to come close. This past year, I got $450-ish back from the state, owed the Feds $863, so I fell within my preferred range overall.
