Years ago, I had a belt break in the tire, but not blow the tire.
Crusing along at about 60MPH, when all of a sudden
BLAM truck is thrown sideways and I'm headed for a ditch! I kept it between the ditches, pulled over and jumped out to see which tire blew. Imagine my surprise when none of them were flat!
Looking more closely, I saw that one tire had a huge bulge in it.
I limped it to a safer place to throw on the spare, it never did pop.
And then, several years back, I had an old tire in the back of the wagon that I used more for a roller than an actual spare that blew its belt apart
just sitting in the wagon.
In both cases, they were Firestone brand tires.
