I realize there is no excuse for the lower gear having the numbers stamped on it backwards.......but...... does it really matter?
Cab, I have to believe by now you know what notch on the gear equates to which position it is.

I assume you’re checking the installed position after you move the cam......so, what does it matter what the gear is stamped as long as the cam is installed correctly?

The first one of those 9 way sets I used had only a couple of dots stamped on the lower gear, designating the mid-point, or “0” position.
Then there was a slip of paper with a drawing of the lower gear depicting what the advance/retard values were for each of the other notches.

I just consider the dots to be markings that are there as a convenience to get you to a point that’s close enough to start degreeing the cam.
