I have been running Titanium wheel studs for a very long time with no issues at all. Yes they are not legal for fuel and F/c but a lot of other things are not as well. You would have hard time finding many comp guy NOT using them. FWIW we lost 2.2lbs going form steel to titanium (studs and nuts)and my steel studs were exactly even with the nuts and the titanium ones could use a 3/4" trimming. I also have titanium fasteners on the bead locks, mine came that way but we switched the Vette over to titanium studs, and beadlock hardware and lost almost 10lbs. The dragster now has titanium nuts and bolts all over it as well. It ads up quick and will kill your pocket book just as fast. The drive stud kits were about $200 a side.
