It sounds like you may have some binding issues maybe in the fork area or release bearing. I would remove the over center spring and adjust the clutch until there is zero free-play then adjust it until you only have about 1 inch . I have seen this before when the release bearing was binding from not enough lube on the front retainer sleeve. You may need to install a pedal stop with this particular clutch as sometimes you have too much travel.
