Mopar switch all their brands to 12V in 1956, my Father in Law 1956 New Yorker had the same design generator with the power steering pump mounted piggy back on the rear. Both of my 1957 Chryslers had a separate power steering pumps
I think1956 and earlier Mopars with power steering where power assisted like the Fords and Chevy had back then, I believe 1957 was the first year Mopar went to the full power steering going through the steering boxes and not to a power assisted ram
