I got my 672 back from the rebuilder today. Looks great, should work well in the car. Has upgraded bands, friction discs and bushings, 4 set planetaries etc,.but basically a stock 6BBL build.

Asked the seller about my 6BBL transmission. My 6BBL, #672 transmission came from a wrecking yard in Georgia. My 6BBL car came from a wrecking yard in Georgia as well.

The casting dates on the main case are 05/69, and on the tail shaft (which is C-body Specific) are 05/69. The assembly date for the 672 is 9/1969. My 6BBL car's SPD is 10/15/1969. It's possible it could be a warranty replacement 6BBL specific transmission for a C-body, or the tail shaft just happens to be correct. Whatever the case, it works for me.

Winner, winner chicken dinner.

It's better than having a 6BBL 727 from a Road Runner IMHO.
