even with narrow bearings i think the last stroker motor i did the halfs did not line up ? just did not stick out as they were narrower ?





The main reason to use the narrow bearings is the radius at the edges of the journals on the cranksahft. The radius is increased for strength on aftermarket crankshafts, if you use a standard width bearing, the radius will rub on the edge of the bearings, causing a reduction in rod side clearance, and rubbing metal off the edges of the bearings. As mentioned I think you are getting the upper and lower shells mixed up, not all brands are clearly marked.
