You could but on a street car it's probably not ideal if you use the woven type, flying road debris would be more of a concern than hard line.

In any event, the pic below is on my Duster street car using a Hot Rod City Garage aluminum tank. I had them weld threaded bungs on for line clamps, worked out great. The flex hose connects to hard lines on the RR frame rail which goes through the trans cross member to the engine bay. Hose is Russell Twist Lok.

After a lot of hemming and hawing, I decided against using an electric pump because on an A body it's almost impossible to mount it so the pump inlet/outlet is below the lowest point of the tank. Take that for what it's worth though there are plenty of EFPs out there mounted other than as directed by the almighty Holley and working just fine for thousands of years.
