true, but bolt patterns, dowel locations should be the same. the big thing to consider is the ring gear on the converter and flywheel will determine the starter location [i think]. i know there are [at least] two diameter/teeth count flywheels. is it possible the torque converter ring gear diameter/tooth count is common to one of the flywheels ? i have a converter ring gear off on the shelf. i'll grab it and report back on it's specs.
