definitely not rooster comb related.... sure some modification of the park rod will do it up!

to any trans builders credit... no way to check this on the bench. There it will go into park and out all day long. Personally I'd grind some on the ball end of the park rod smoothing the angle more. Since you mentioned "race"... is that race only, or does it see some street time also? It might be a "NEW"...to you trans, but most of those parts involved are just old factory stuff. Could be the lever in the tailshaft housing needing some tweeking too.
