You may have a couple of bad lifters. I would put it back on #1 TDC & adj to 1&1/2 turns down if that is the correct setting, turn crank 1/4 turn & adj the next one in the firing order & so on. then the valves will be adjusted correct & if it is still excessively noisy then you can search elsewhere for the problem.(& I think it is elsewhere as in a bad lifter(s))
