The turbo from half the cylinders has been done for sale to the general public, by Volvo. They called it "light pressure" turbocharging.

It was on a transverse 6, they used 3 cylinders to drive the turbo and got single digit boost which was all they wanted.

Of course it was fuel injected.

For a carb I'd suggest using a blow through system feeding all cylinders. Cam the engine to maximize the turbo output.

Compressing the air does raise its temperature, it's called adiabatic heat of compression.
