How many hours would you say it would take to rebuild a trans on a 96 318 4x4 1500? Mine is slipping into 2nd. Have rebuilt a a833 4 speed. But i hear this is a whole new animal. Also what all tools do you guys use. thanks

I would say 8 hours total.. and that is cleaning every part by hand and the total disassembly and cleaning of the valve body. That is taking your time, lubing every component appropriately and following the complete torque sequence for each and every bolt/nut/screw.

Tools needed: front clutch piston compressor, snap ring pliers, OD unit compression tool, press, small flathead screwdriver, c-clamps, long/needle nose pliers. (what is nice to have is a 727/904 transmission mount so that you can work on the trans in a stable environment, but is not needed).

Lubricants needed: transmission lube (or vaseline), loctite, liquid pipe thread, dexron III/ATF+4
