I like Rage Gold as well but it's getting tougher to pay for it and like ice cream, you don't even get a gallon anymore.

As far as the epoxy primer goes, do yourself a favor and put the rattle can idea out of your mind. Get a gallon of SPI epoxy and an inexpensive Vapor gun from Northern Tool and prime away. When it comes time to work on that section there will be no need to strip it off (or concern yourself with a sub standard base). Scuff sand it, apply another coat of epoxy and be on your way.
