No speed sensor needed, no trans signal needed except neutral or ground it and you can start in any gear. However you could control a 44rh or 46rh with the 89 computer but it is not nessacary to make it run right. I have never had much trouble with the dodge TBI, I think it got a bad rep. because it was our first EFI and no one understood it so it got a bad reputation as impossible to diag and fix. The only bad thing is it does not take kindly to much modifications. If you are happy with the power it makes then I say go for it, if you need more than a dual exhaust, high flow air cleaner, very minor porting and milling then you need a carb or aftermarket EFI.
