I am in the process of reupholstering the buckets seats on my 1972 Satellite Sebring Plus project car. First of all, let me say I am not sure if the buckets are actually from a '72 model, they may be from a '71. Anyway, I purchased Tamraz's 72-74 Mopar B Body Front Bucket Seat Bun Foam to replace the rotted foam in my front seats. The old driver's side bucket was so torn up that I could see a wire type frame showing through along both sides of the bucket seat back. The new foam doesn't seem to have this wire support built into the foam and my upholstery guy says he can't use the old frame structure (or whatever you call it) with the new foam. It seems without this steel support, my bucket seat with just the new foam will be all floppy on the sides. Am I predicting the negative outcome correctly or is old metal frame built into the original seat foam not really needed? Thank you from someone worried about breaking my seat back (or my own back).
