One my 97 5.2 I looked down the throttle body and could that the bottom of the plenum was wet with oil. Installed a set of Felpro gaskets and has been good since.
I was about to say this... It's the best way to check for blown plenum gasket. Look down the throttle body for oil puddled on bottom of intake.
Oil consumption is a good sign,but you don't know if your consumption is an external leak, valve seals, worn out rings, stuck open PCV, or blown plenum.
