Well Dwight, I guess we have to agree to disagree.

The winding coils on the original motors extended out to the switch cap terminals and spliced connections with shrink wrap. These coil wires were covered with woven material for the insulation. That is how Kim does them for accuracy. What impressed me is the fact that this woven colored insulation material is hand made. Her "When you can't find it, you make it." approach is what sold me.

The top motor is a late 70's build that is NOS, my motor restored by Kim and a good old core to show this method to be correct at the bottom.

So what happens to the original coil length when all that is visible outside the motor is plastic coated new wiring? I really don't know what happens because I never opened one of these other restored motors to see, but I have a pretty good idea.
