These are my Dusters LCA's, I steam cleaned them, soaked them in Evaporust, scrubbed off the remaining crud with 0000 steel wool, coated them in ESC's "RPM" metal protectant, then dipped them in real Cosmoline. After it dried (a week or so in warm weather)they remained much less sticky/tacky than most seem to think, it worked awesome!
