Yes, but $600 is a lot less than an engine rebuild where I live.

You always could get a weld up kit from an oval track supplier and double up on it for both sides of the sump to add capacity and trap doors. Maybe cost you $100 plus time and labor.

Big thing is to keep oil around the pick up. This is why good pans are expensive. They have internal sumps and gates to trap oil around the pick up in specific directions so that there is always oil at the tube.
