When using stock wiring, you get full 12VDC during starting. Then it goes back to running thru BR.

BTW, this has nothing to do with "overheating" the coil. If that was the case they'd have made different coils years ago that would handle the heat. It is all to save the points when opening. Here is a question for you, "what does the condenser do?"
