Comp Cam XR286R.
I am a member of several race boards and it's only the Mopar board that still recommends flat tappet cams. Yes, rollers cost more but they work and there is never any lobe failure.

Maybe its your builder. 39 years of building my own engines and racing weekly from early April to November and I finally had an engine slightly round a lobe. It was Matts 10.50 running 360 on its second rebuild (5 years). LOTS of passes and early in its use my Son was inexperienced in the use of alcohol son his oil was often contaminated with water from improper start-ups and shut-downs. I on the other hand had TWO roller lifter and cam failures.

I've never used a flat tappet cam...ever. I truly doubt that the OEM uses them any longer either. What Mike said about oiling is true and he used the right fix.
My builder uses a big comp roller on my BAE hemi.
