Well, there is a good reason that I ask the questions. I changed oil and filter this week and when I cut the filter open it glittered at me. I also found several (3 or 4) small slivers of metal in it. A magnet picked up most of it. I then pulled the intake to have a look at the cam and lifters and found the #1 Ex lobe starting to go bad. Also a couple of other lobes are starting to show some distress. I have no choice now but to change the cam, and wasn't sure if I had the best choice of cam for me or not. (this cam has well over 1000 passes and has been in three different engines)
I have a OLD Cam Dynamics solid lift cam that I used in the mid 1990's that I am going to put in for now. It's a .585 lift, 310 duration, 106*, not much different than the .590 purple cam. What will 2* less duration and .005" less lift do?Also, the duration at .050" on the .590 is 265*, the Cam Dynamics is 275*. What will that change?
I know this is a lot of questions, but I'm sure to get schooled here

Thanks,
Brian
