I've been to car shows where people park their cars then take their lawn chairs to go and socialize with a large group of people not necessarily close to their car. Sure, their car may not be out of site, but they aren't close enough to it or paying much attention to it to catch everyone walking by. Plus since they're in a big group, it can be intimidating for someone to try to approach them and ask whose car belongs to whom.
