Where's the best place to get some "please do not touch" signs for car shows and such? I would prefer the static cling type. Thanks, Ken

I see them for sale at some of the larger shows and runs sometimes..but you might try here. Ron

I think they're a waste of time; those who are inclined to "touch" will ignore signs. (and I've seen plenty of examples)

I have a story for you guys.
I was connected with a car club where several of the guys had very high $$$$$$$ street rods. The guys were pretty cool, and encouraged me to participate with my pile of junk. One of the guys with a $120K 34 Ford coupe always had fancy embroidered "do not touch" signs on his car. We were sitting at a show one time and all of us were sitting around shooting the bull, when these two guy came up to the Ford. One guy was petting the coupe, feeling all around the window edges, across the roof, just laying his hands all over the car. When he moved one of the "do not touch" signs to run his hands across the top of the door edge, the owner came unglued (I was surprised it took him that long). He jumped out of his chair and yelled at the guy " whats the matter, are you blind or something or can't you just read the "do not touch" sign you just moved?"
The offender jumped back immediately and began asking for forgiveness. His companion told my friend that the guy was indeed blind! He was telling him about how the car was chopped and the blind guy wanted to "see" for himself. At this point, my friend is doing the apologizing. Then he told both guys all about the car, and let the blind guy "see" his whole car and explained everything that had been done. To my amazement, nearly all of the guys in the club stepped up to show the blind guy their cars as well. After the 2 guys left, they all cleaned up the cars again. I think all the guys put the signs away for the rest of the day.
Some of those that do the touching have a reason, but most of the time they simply don't know why they can't/shouldn't touch. The club took an instructional position to people touching their cars from then on. Made going to shows with them a lot less stressful. Gene

Gene, that's a great story and it really makes you think, BUT I really think that the "companion" should have seeked out the owner and asked permission before letting the guy touch the car. How hard is it to ask a group of people if the owner of the car is around?

I've been to car shows where people park their cars then take their lawn chairs to go and socialize with a large group of people not necessarily close to their car. Sure, their car may not be out of site, but they aren't close enough to it or paying much attention to it to catch everyone walking by. Plus since they're in a big group, it can be intimidating for someone to try to approach them and ask whose car belongs to whom.
