Not true on te OEM cars, they had smaller diameter springs that where still to stiff, hence the bowing at the front of the hinges OP, I used a cut off broom stick to hold the hood up on my Duster, made all the locals think this car can't be very fast or high tech. with a broom stick hoding the hood open It ran low tens at 134. MPH on pump gas through the muffs with the air cleaner on
