killing the engine with the RPM up and the throttle wide open seems like the lazy way to do it to me....

if one REALLY wanted to do this, why not just plumb a nitrous jet to the exhaust with an auxiliary fuel pump, when you want to light them off, hit a button...activate the NOS solenoid (no funny gas, just gasoline) you get fuel to spray into the exhaust near the tips, and a spark plug to light it off. that way you can keep your engine running, you don't kill your rings with raw gas washing away the oil, and you get to throw flames while driving away.
