TranzTech in Dubuque IA did mine, he lops off both bellhousings, and has a jig to weld the BB727 one to an adapter that then bolts to the OD tranny. OEM shifter and kickdown linkage as well as starters all work exactly as they should doing it this way.

What's an estimate for the cost of that ? I have a 47RE with a warped bellhousing from a truck fire that I'd like to put behind a big block at some point .

I guess if i was bored it wouldn't be hard to make a jig though ...
