Measure the bore of the converter hub register in the end of the crank, it should measure 1.810"....if it measures 1.550" it is a 273 crank. If it does measure 1.810" them measure the hub on the converter, it might be oversized.

In some rare cases a standard trans crank won't have the register bored at all.
