Correct me if i'm wrong but i thought the solenoid held the air grabber open if it was open and the key turned off,not bleed off the air?

me too, I had one of these years ago and I remember putting power to it and it would flow air through the 2 ports, release the juice and it would stop air flow. I don't remember any other vents or ports to bleed air off other than the 2 which hook to the hoses. Besides, you don't need to bleed the vacuum off with the engine off because the engine vacuum holds the AG open. Once the engine is off, intake vacuum goes away and the spring on the AG mechanism would close the scoop. Been a long time since I played around with an AG. $175 isn't too bad if you need one. I used to sell them in the early/mid 90's for $75 cause even then, they were hard to find. Anyway, best musclecar hood ever! IMO
