guys, i'm looking for a decent aftermarket coil. prefer a "can" style one, like a stock coil. i tried the accell super stock coil. first one, was dead right out of the box.

second one lasted about 100 miles, and then decided to leave me dead, on the side of the road. had the old coil with me (the stock 1989 coil that came with the truck) and it fired right up, and took me to the parts store, where i gave them back their garbage. again. i have a nice smallblock, E3 plugs, firecore wires, nos tan cap and rotor. whats a good "hot" coil, that might offer more than 100 miles of service?

look below, for a pile of garbage.

is this accel coil you have a "points" coil or the elect. ign. coil?

my buddys 89 truck ran like crap with a accel coil till I noticed it was for points not elect. ign.

got it on my 88-440 truck with a single points dist and it works great, nice blue spark on the plugs. orange/red spark on his truck.

the Big accel coil I have works fine also. but I have points bounce around 5200 rpm so the NOS accel points with 32oz spring goes in next.

I like to use a pertronix 40,000 volt chrome coil made to use a full 12 volts. mine has been mounted sideways for 15 yrs no problems.

sometimes the simple basic stuff is better than new high dollor stuff anyday.
