I have had good luck with the rubber seals and Permatex Ultra gasket goo in the corners of the seal retainer and sides, and offset the seal slightly.

I always use brake cleaner to get everything as clean as possible, so the Permatex sticks well and then be sure to lubricate the seal/crank with oil.

I used the Mr Gasket seal kit last time. There's a member on here that sells a high quality kit too.
