The fender tag or broadcast sheet will not help. You could go to your DMV or the DMV inthe state where the car was purchased if you know it and see if they can do a VIN vehicle history search? Some states will do this service. There is a fee of course. If the car was bought new in your home state or just titled once before moving there, they will have a record all the titles. I got a report from the state where a car of mine was bought and they had all the titles and vehicle inspections with the mileage of each inspection year in the report. The first title will tell you what dealer sold it.

.............I friend tried this in our state of VA and the DMV said no way. I dont know if they changed there policy lately but I will ask this week. Also some dealers did a DX (dealer exchange) so the dealer address on the orig sticker may not be the dealer that sold the car new. My VA car was sent to Winchester VA. from the factory but was sold in Centervill Dodge, a dealer 50 miles away.
