I was thinking I read or heard somewhere that there is a higher risk of transmission failure if you just leave it in drive and let it shift. Any merit to this or did I dream it? Car is a 3500lb Cuda running mid/low 11s with a tight 10" converter. Going racing tonight and the plan is to let it shift itself for consistency sake. Any thoughts?
I used to leave with the shifter in manual low, then upshift into D at about the 60' clocks before the car would normally shift itself. It give the roller clutch the protection of the low/rev band on the launch, and the consistency of the governor controlled upshifts.
