Looking to rebuild the 383 for my ’71 SSP. I want this car to be a daily driver with A/C so pump gas, good vacuum and decent fuel mileage is a must (I know not to expect much on fuel mileage but I would like to get 15+ mph if possible). In fact, I don’t want too much horsepower (is that possible?) because if I have it I will want to use it!!! Heads will be stock 906's.

Thinking of a stock-ish engine build but was hoping to take advantage of newer technology. What do you suggest for a decent build (pistons, cam, carb & manifold)?

If your running HP manifolds you might run the Comps 275DEH like i'm using 235/482 it pulls 12" of vacuum at idle with power brakes. Use the KB400 pistons, mill the heads .030 to get you around 84cc. Maybe a 670 street avenger carb (i'm using a 3310 750), you should be pretty happy and still get decent mileage if you keep your foot out of it . I'm running 3.91's now, you might want to use 3.55's or less for mileage.
