Hey all, have a quick question. I have never messed with external oiling before, and after having low oil pressure issues, I've figured out all the o-rings are shot. Bought the Doty manufacturing washer kit for the pan. I did get it back to steady 65 lbs. Then last night realized the one on the back of the oil pump looked bad also. After getting the pump cover off(cause the back fitting hit the k member) of coarse the race for the oil pump slid out. My question is the pump gear timed? Part number on the side of the pump cover is 21200. Also what do you guys do to freshen up the pump? I cleaned the o-rings put new grease on them. Also noticed the pump gear a little chewed up in spots. Thanks

Chewed up pump gears is fine. Nothing is timed. Just clean everything up good and put it back together. Don't get in a hurry.

I have a Milodon high volume pump, and found it to be at max spec out of rhe box! .004 end clearance, on a product that will grow out of spec (max end clearance .004) just because the aluminum housing will grow as it warms. I used a flat plate and sandpaper to bring it down to .0017, or .0002 over minimum cold. That ought to help it pull a prime now. This was not in your original post, but felt it important.
