Is there any good way to do it without ruining the Lexan? Mike wanted his name off the car, no problem as pretty much everything else is vinyl. Nope, name is paint. nervous

Thanks! wave

I was told by a house painter years ago to use always denatured alcohol on any paint that I wanted to clean up, same on decal glue up
Soak a rag really well and hold it on the paint long enough(2 to 5 minutes in some cases shruggy) to try and soak it all the way through before seeing if the paint gets soggy enough to slide off easily scope
Good luck up

if its hand lettered all jokes aside - easy off oven cleaner will take it off - lexan itself can actually be wet sanded and polished like paint - but is a time consuming process. I had a buddy who painted airplane and he got over-spray on the windows - we sanded and buffed that thing until the windows look like new

Lexan, although a poly carbonate, has a special hardening on the surface to reduce scratching. Try something like Goof off as it removes oil and acrylic paints. 1 877 466 3633. As per anything try a test sample first

lexan with the coating is actually branded Marguard - if its not marguard - then it is straight up polycarbonate - AKA - lexan

How about just changing your name to Mike? Might be easier.

[Klean Strip] from home depot or lowes. works great. Ok, not sure how safe it is on Lexon, but its fine with Polyurethane surfaces, so you might be safe. Try a small spot first. Works in like 30 seconds and is done in 15 minutes.

Just to follow up, I tried scraping it off with a razor blade today. It kinda worked, but I saw I was putting fine scratches on the Lexan. I decided to try some headlight restoration polish I had and used a powerball in a drill. Worked great, and even took out the scratches I put in. boogie

Looks nice. Not sure if it would have worked, but I have used HOPPS #9 on plastics to remove paint and stickers and it worked good. According to the MSDS:

SECTION 3 - COMPOSITION / INFORMATION ON INGREDIENTS
ID INGREDIENT CAS NUMBER EINECS INDEX NUMBER % WT
1 Ethyl Alcohol 0000064-17-5 200-578-6 603-002-00-5 15 - 40
2 Kerosene 0008008-20-6 232-366-4 649-404-00-4 15 - 40
3 Oleic Acid 0000112-80-1 204-007-1
4 Amyl Acetate 0000628-63-7 211-047-3 607-130-00-2 5 - 10
5 Ammonium Hydroxide 0001336-21-6 215-647-6 007-001-01-2 1 - 5
