My parents purchased this Challenger from a small Dodge dealer in NW Iowa for $1600 in early 1978. The dealer was a relative of my father; he had bought the car out of the Des Moines Iowa area where it was for sale for parts! It started life as a JH29N0Bxxxxxx, the original 383 was gone but the transmission was still there. The fender tag and broadcast sheet survived, as did the car through my teenage years. In 1981 the car went into hibernation when I joined the Navy, finally in 2003 my Dad and I pulled it from his garage in NW Iowa and towed it to Florida. I've been retired since 2010 and finally made enough progress to post here.

Numbers: Sequence Number 2018048 VON 919023287
Broadcast Sheet info, pretty standard for a 70 SE. I read somewhere that 20% of 70 SE cars were FK5.

I guess I’ve changed some in 30 years, now I want a car that’s quick, but can also go around a corner and stop. SE rear window and vinyl top will go away. Adding a TA hood and rear spoiler, moving the antenna to the rear quarter.

Suspension Front and rear torque boxes, subframe connectors
Front 1 1/8” sway bar, 11.75” discs, Edelbrock Classic shocks, Flaming River 16-1 Manual box, lower control arm stiffeners, tubular upper control arms, 1” torsion bars, modern aluminum master cylinder, 11/16" tie rod ends & sleeves, Polygraphite front kit
Rear Firm Feel ¾” sway bar, Edelbrock Classic shocks, ESPO +1” arch springs, Doctor Diff 10.7″ rear disc brake kit and a 3.55 8 3/4”
Wheels and Tires American Racing Torq-Thrust II polished front 17x7, rear 17x8. Tires: Nitto NT 450 Extreme Performance 275/50R17 V Speed Rated, Nitto 555 Extreme 235/45ZR17 W Speed Rated

We had a twin to your car in the late seventies except it was a 318 car. FK5, white top, burnt orange leather interior, SE. I still have the build sheet. I'm not an FK5 fan but it looks its best with a white top IMHO.

going to go with a white side strip like this. Toying with the idea of white seats.

Over the weekend I dropped off some parts at Stripmasters in Milton. They are showing my car as a rolling chasis at Garlits 3-4 Nov. Here's some new color pics

I had them move the antenna, going for look of a TA (sorta, hood, rear spoiler), stroker big block with better brakes and suspension than original. Interior will be all factory, extrerior parts are all original Mopar, just not on this car. Basically, how I would have built a Challenger.

Make sure to get the correct T/A antenna bezel. There is/was some confusion with a vendors stock
