Hey everyone,
im currently running a t5 behind my scamp right now but i know for a fact that i will eventually crap out and have been thinking of swapping to a tko since i have a bellhousing for one...I have a cuople of question about them...

first off, how much power can a tko handle in stock trim (500 or 600 version)? id rather not faceplate one since its not as street friendly (and my car is primarily a street car) and because its more money that i dont have...Im hoping to have my car into the mid 11's some day, and i do plan to spray the car as well to help get me there

Also, is there a particular model of TKO that i should be looking for to work with my setup (340) in terms of input shaft spline and such? I currently have the mopar pilot bushing with mustang 5.0 pilot bearing inserts pressed in...is there a different pilot bearing that i will have to use? are clutch and pressure plate different than that of a T5?

If anyone has any info on this i would really appreciate it
Thanks!

Matthew

Any Ford spec TKO will bolt right in but you will need to change the disc for most of them since they have 26 spline inputs and you have a 10 spline. Depending on the overdrive ratio and depending if you want a 500 or 600 your choices are p/n 5008, 4617, 5201 or 4615(10 spline)

what is the output spline count on tko's?

Also, power wise how well do they hold up? say 11's in a 3400lb car with nitrous? do i need faceplating or pro shifting or wil a good clutch and shifter let me get by?

31 spline output on the 600 and I would think it would be 31 on the 500 but I'm not sure. I think Mustang websites may be a good source on how much dragstrip abuse they can take.

I have some mustang friends with them and they hold up well. None of them have broken any parts and one of them ran in 10.30s. They do have problem wearing sliders and synchros pretty bad, none of them are faceplated or pro shifted. They are easy to service. Easier than a T5 for sure. I had one of those time bombs in my stang and never again lol.

FYI the above mentioned tremec trans are the older 3550s and TKOs not the newer style with the straight cut gears.
