I have some pistons with std 3/16 top/2nd ring grooves & I have some 1/16 rings. I believe there are spacers to allow them to be used. Who sells em & do they work OK? thank you for your time.

How much are the spacers compared to the correct ring set? confused
BTW, are those rings grooves for 5/64 rings or 3/16? confused

Mine at the time was because the lands were too big.It was cheaper than pistons.IIRC all the machine work they did plus the spacers was like 50 bucks.Rocky

I did knot know they required machine work. if so (for my app) then I should continue to try to sell my 1/16 rings & get a set of regular 5/64 rings (30 over 440 daily driver)

Machine work depends on whether you're just using the GL spacers to reduce the groove size for standard width rings or using them to repair worn grooves.

I just got off the ph with Total Seal & the salesman said that they do not offer a spacer for 5/64 down to 1/16 & that he is not aware of any one else in the industry that does... Man I'd sure think that'd be a common (desired) item. I'd sure hate to think he (Ed) was lying just to possibly drum up a sale.

You're talking about a .015625" spacer.

Doesn't seem like that would be super durable.

Yes they (total seal) have .030" and .046" spacers for 2 rings that are even thinner than 1/16".

I was thinking its very thin as 1/16 is 4/64 so the spacer would be 1/64 which is what Dwayne posted. Ron

Just curious if you are sure on the size's ? As I see the one company posted by 70AARCuda has spacers to put a 3/64 ring in a 5/64 grove as they offer a .032 spacer which is 2/64. Ron
