I have a typical duster used for 20+k miles a year commuter car. I want to remove the two braces behind the rear seat (between the corners of the package tray and trans hump) and get a fold down seat for increased space. I don't want to loose the integrity of the body.

What do I need to replace the braces with? What did the factory do to the space dusters, if anything? I've seen some pictures but haven't seen one in person. The package tray is narrower and braces are gone, but I can't tell if there are any reinforcements that replaced the missing metal.

If anyone has one of these stripped down that can take pictures that would be great. The pictures I found were with the carpeting and fabric so it didn't reveal much about the metal underneath.

Awsome! Thankyou much. It looks like the there is an extra support coming out horizontally from the base of the wheel well to the gas tank hump.
