Jim_Lusk OP I Live Here Joined: Mar 2003 Posts: 18,679 Fresno, CA	I have a valve body that I believe is from a 71 big block 727. It does have the comb for the 69-up NSS. How can I tell the year? Am I correct that this valve body can be used in a 67 727? Besides the part-throttle kickdown of the 71, are there any other advantages or disadvantages to the 71 vs. the 67 valve bodies?

JohnRR I Win Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 75,082 U.S.S.A.	What's the casting date clock on the VB say , not that that is an indicator of actual year. Someone might be able to identify by the number punched out on the seperator plate . Yes it will work fine in that 67 core .

Jim_Lusk OP I Live Here Joined: Mar 2003 Posts: 18,679 Fresno, CA	Thanks John. The trans the valve body came out of was a 71. I know that because it was behind a 383 and it does match the picture.
