Does anyone have a diagram of a power window regulator for installation or removal.I checked the 70 service manual and didn't see it in it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.....also the spring in the regulator...should it be tightened 180 degrees or 360?

I don't have any diagrams, the spring should be tightened 360 deg, when the regulator is in the up position. It is very tight, be careful with the removal or installation.

Do you mean which holes on the door to bolt the regulator to?

The blue dots on this pic are for power window regulators on Barracuda or Challenger.

The red dots are for manual regulators on Barracuda.

Challenger manual regulators are higher up than Barracuda.

Well.......I jumped in and got my feet wet! When I loosened the regulator......I about lost my fingers!(dumbass me) When putting it back in together.....the best I could do was 180 on the spring. What is the trick? The window was all the way down. Is it easier with the window up? Should I take it out and tighten the spring to 360 and then put it in? What would you do? Any help will be greatly appreciated and my save a few fingers! Thanks

And if you could educate me.....what is this spring used for ?......to slow the window down while lowering and act as a cushion......With the spring at 180.... I have to have the fastest window I've ever seen ..( a hot rod window ) lol

The spring is used to assist the window when going up, and to slow it down when it is going down. That way it goes at equal speed either up or down. It is definitely easier to install the spring in the up position, as it is wound up even more in the down position. The only way it can be installed is with the regulator out of the door. The way I did it is lay down the regulator on the floor, hook the end of the spring up in the pin and rotate the center to wind it up. Once the center is turned 360 deg, push down into the slot. I used a pair of wise grips, and inserted a big screw driver in it to act as a handle. It is more of a two person job and you need to be very careful.
I own two power window E-bodies, the first time I took one apart, it almost took my little finger off. I still have the scar after 15 years.
