I have a Charger with a 440, RPM heads, Torker intake, 2" Hooker Headers, 292/.509 cam, Crane gold roller rockers, Rhoads Lifters, KB Flat tops, 10.6:1 CR, 870 Holley, MP ignition (chrome ECU) 727/3200 stall with 3.55 gears etc.

I am feeling a minor "surge" while cruising the car @ ~70mph. I want to say it's starving for gas. But when I stomp the pedal to the floor it takes off. I think I timed a 60mph-100mph run in about 5ish seconds with the car in 3rd @ approx 2300RPM(drive..it didn't kickdown into 2nd..not sure if it should at that speed). Does this sound like a good run with this car and engine build? I'm thinking the surge (if it's fuel related) may be slowing it down a little.

I am running an electric fuel pump with the pressure set ~7psi. Could this be the culprit? Should I turn it up 1/2 a psi or more? I have the carb set like Holley recommends, has good vacuum reading, idle, plugs look good etc.

Thanks

Vacuum advance hooked up? If so,disconnect and plug the hose. If it's better your timing curve(mech and vac) need some work.Just a thought,my car hated the vac advance at light throttle/cruise.

If no vac advance.......I agree with RapidRobert, it's lean!

, Check it & vac adv is the only system that alters rotor phasing & due to a stackup of tolerances it may be moving the rotor a hair too far away from the underside of the cap terminals & effecting a miss. Reduce the vac adv w a 3/32" allen wrench, go several turns CCW. Holler when you find something

Thanks for the info. It is hooked up. I won't be messing with this car for a few weeks since I'm in the middle of another one that's getting an engine transplant. But for whatever reason the thought popped into my head and I thought I would ask you guys so I can get my thoughts together when the time comes.
