I have a bunch of Aluminum small block rods and boat anchor pistons just like that. Probably meet the same fate as yours when we haul the next load of scrap in.

Are some of those the 2322LF pistons?

Wonder what that stuff is worth? I have dozens of old rods and pistons.

I'll find out today as I scrap lot's of copper and brass for here at work.
We are taking a truck load of old barq grills today, some are stainless.

I also have about a 1/2 5 gal bucket full of titanum valve springs, wonder if it's worth anything.

Honestly I bet I have more than 10 sets of old rods and pistons.

A few years ago I made up some clocks out of them for Xmas presents, they were a big hit.

A few years back, I took about a dozen sets of 440 cast pistons in for scrap.

They did not want them. They told me they were not pure enough. They said something about a ring of metal within the cast piston that just didn't make it worth anything. Sounded like BS to me.

Perhaps high end pistons are pure enough for scrap.

Too many cars, too many parts, too little coin, too little space to work in, too little time left to make it all happen! Update: down to one ride, still too many parts, a little more jingle in the pocket, gaining space, and it's going to happen this year!

those stock pistons are concidered dirty aluminum and worth less than pure aluminum, I have never had a problem getting rid of the stockers but won't get as much money, also there is a steel strut cast into them for strength around the pin area.

That's good to know I have a big pile of alum in the corner of my garage that I have been waiting for the price to bottom before I bring it in

I helped my uncle make a smelter for aluminum, and copper. We smelt anything into small bricks of any aluminum, or brass, or copper. Radiators are fun, and so is tranny cases.

Makes a small bricks the same size as a red brick, we accually used fire brick as the mold for the bricks. You should see the look of the guy who takes out scrap. for the first year he thought we were stealing it.

Find out what they get per item and see if they are worth more as-is.
I could see them as trophy material, swap meet 2 dollar box, or other uses in the form they are now.
We were bored at the sand drag track, watching yet another track prep and were thinking of other things that could be done during the down time.
Digger Tire races came to mind, but a piston or rod toss would work too.
