Drag racing engine up to 7200 rpm...3.31 stroke.. only needs to run 10.50's in a 3400lb A-body.

1. What is a good wet sump oiling system combo??

2.Heads..are the Magnum R/T heads good and are they around?? If not what's the best stock head to use?? Heads will be ported.

3.Intake...whats good?? Have to use a spread bore type carb(TQ or Rochester)

4.Rods and crank...who has the good stuff??

Cam..solid or roller?? Prefer a solid due to costs, but if roller will be better in long run,I'd go that route.

PM one of the builders on here close to you.

I personally recomend Dan at performance only, but there is many builders on here that do good work and have the numbers to prove it.

Asking that generic of a question on this board is gonna get ya confused by replies.

Personally id go,

Ported "308" or J heads,

Hughes solid flat tappet cam,

K1 rods and crank, or stock 340/318 steel crank,

Diamond, or comparable forged pistons,

and have your builder spec the cam, compression, carb,

as for oiling, just a good ol high volume oil pump.

not going to be easy or cheap with restrictions you have. stock head? is a W2 considered stock ? RHS heads would probablt be the best for the $$$$. will need a roller I think.

what are you trying to do?

No W2's.... has to be a stock type head..10.70 to 10.80 is a more realistic ET though.

Tony,I sent you a PM,but don't spill the beans.

Yep. Too bad they didn't come in A-bodies 40 years ago though. I think he needs something similar to a F.A.S.T. class rule, but I may be mistaken.....

F.A.S.T. cars are not limited to cubic inches.

Almost everything else though.........carburetors, intakes, heads, exhaust manifolds, etc.

TIRES!

Not sure why it's a derail? Last time
I checked, Magnum R/T heads (which the OP mentions) weren't on an a body?

I threw out 7200 as a base line..can go higher I guess..I'm a big block guy....don't need to run those 383 and 440's that high.Last time I raced a small block was 30 years ago,so I know what I ran then is outdated.

10.70-10.80 ET is what I'm after.Doesn't need to go faster than 10.70.

Does it have to be a 3.31 stroke? 3.58 can make power @ 7200

Yes..3.31 stroke. I know a 3.58 or 4.00 stroke is a easier engine to build to run 10.70's.

I think it would be much easier if you layed out the
rules or restrictions... if you have to stay at the
stock stroke you better turn UP the revs... 7200 is
barely past the stock revs

A NHRA S/S engine would probably be the closest thing..but I'm only asking for a 10.70-10.80 time slip!! As I mentioned,I threw out the 7200 rpm limit as a suggestion,I don't buzz my B/RB engines that high.If it needs to go 8K,so be it.

On the other hand,if this isn't even feasable, that's fine too.

"3.31 stroke.. only needs to run 10.50's (10.7's) in a 3400lb A-body."

From everything I have read, you want a 3.31 stroke to make about 600 hp and limited to stock type heads correct? You didn't mention if they have to be correct for the year car though. That makes a huge difference as mentioned above.

It will take 500 HP to get 3400 lbs to 124 MPH. (Moroso HP)

No the heads don't have to be correct for the year car, have to be iron, and Mopar heads. That's why I mentioned the Mag R/T's.
